3 Day Executive Administration and Risk Management

The Executive Administration & Risk Management programme will address the core strategic and operational areas faced by the management team and equip sport administrators with fundamental administrative and management perspectives to assist them in the day to day work inside their federation, department, club, or sector organisation. This programme provides a rare forum for discussion with like minded individuals along with industry and academic experts.

 Aims and objectives; Delegates will follow The University of Manchester's proven learning techniques  throughout the programme. This involves applying group project work to build relevance, and applying what has been delivered by presenters in a real life situation throughout the personal and group project work phases of the programme. The key objective of the group project phase of the programme is to apply learning outcomes immediately, develop interpersonal skills, enhance networking opportunities, and address key industry issues.

Outcomes; At the conclusion of the programme, participants will have developed an
understanding of and be equipped with tools for:

  • Fundamental administrative and management functions of a sporting organisation;
  • Financial principles such as interpreting profit and loss and balance sheets, forecasting and budgeting, and cash-flow management;
  • Strategic management principles and how to apply them over time;
  • Corporate Governance principles and the variation between the public and private sectors;
  • Implementing an Integrated Business Risk Management Framework for use across an organisation tailored to the sports sector;
  • The use of contemporary risk management as a major information and decision-making tool for sports administrators;
  • Strategies to assist building a stronger participation base for your sport;
  • Working with Insurance brokers to ensure effective communication.

Participants will receive an Executive Certificate in Sport and Major Events awarded by the World Academy of Sport.

  • Chief Executives and Senior Management of sport federations;
  • National/International sport organisations;
  • Board Director's of sport organisations;
  • Volunteers with important management or decision making functions;
