The world of sport is becoming increasingly professional. Sport executives are facing many new challenges as their organisations become more performance driven.

The 5 Day International Event Administration programme has been designed to equip those executives at the forefront of sport and major event management with the necessary insights and tools to take their organisation to the next level.

Aims and Objectives; The University of Manchester's proven learning techniques of applying group project work to build relevance and apply what has been delivered by presenters in a real life situation is implemented during personal and group project work phases of the programme. The key objective of the group project phase of the programme is to apply learning outcomes immediately, develop interpersonal skills, enhance networking opportunities, and address key industry issues.

Participants have opportunities for significant group discussion concerning each topic area, and interaction with presenters occurs during the presentations, project work phases, and the informal social programme organised throughout the 5 Day Programme.

Outcomes;  At the conclusion of the programme, participants will have developed an understanding of;

  • Key sporting and event functions;
  • Processes involved with acquiring a large scale global event;
  • How to organise a large scale global event; and
  • Legacy optimisation amongst other skills.

Delegates will also develop skills and techniques in relations to the principles of marketing sport and events and developing strong stakeholder relations, broadcast and new media opportunities and requirements, how to attract sources of sport and event funding, and agreement and risk issues associated with sport and major events.

Participants will receive an Executive Certificate in Sport and Major Events awarded by the World Academy of Sport.
